Seagate Rotary - 1992 to 2022
This web feature, set up by Seagate Rotary member Ian Dickson (PHF) to celebrate the Club's 25th anniversary in 2017, now continues (at no cost) as an important local history resource curated within the website of Irvine Burns Club. Further updating depends on what extra information members send to Ian for addition.
The selection of photos and stories seeks
to celebrate the role of Seagate Rotary in Irvine life and its involvement
in good causes both locally and internationally.

Some members, particularly Sandy and
Donald, have preserved excellent archives which have helped greatly in this
task. Others have given guidance on events and incidents worthy of inclusion.
Several have shared memories in their own way, as Rotarians do, and as described
in a press report of 2003:
"The President invited the peripatetic plumber
and charabanc comedian, member Bill Carson, to examine the long history of
the Club which was founded in the last century. Instead, in a meticulously
prepared ad lib presentation, Bill gently exposed the foibles and failings
of those present, in his inimitable style and to the mild embarassment of
the victims." [The 'charabanc' reference: Bill would keep everyone
laughing as he drove one of the coaches on the annual pensioners outing.]
This "Seagate Story" aims to strike a fair balance of the historical
and the anecdotal.
Members are usually named only by forename but full names are in the lists of founder members (see 1992) and current members (see 2020).
