Built as a chapel of ease of 1834, it gained its present strong traditional form in 1883 with the addition of the chancel, transepts and tower by J J Stevenson. The weather vane is a model of the 1920s Fife racing yacht ‘Latifa’ (the yachts were designed and built in Fairlie). The 9th/10th-century Fairlie Stone is displayed within the church. The excellent stained glass was made by Morris & Co and Heaton, Butler & Bayne.

Walk north along the pavement on the landward side of the main road for 800 metres to the entrance to Kelburn Country Park at Kelburn House, home of the Earl of Glasgow, whose ancestors have held the estate since the 13th century. Visit their website.
David Macbeth Moir, a Musselburgh doctor and a good friend of John Galt, wrote a poem "Lines in the Park of Kelburn Castle" - Heritage Highlight: a few lines of his poem.
Cross the road to the path that leads under the railway. You will join the path between the railway and the marina boundary fence. There are two public car parks at the north of the marina.

Set in the sheltered, scenic waters of the Clyde, Largs Yacht Haven is home to an impressive 730 berths, and was voted Marina of the year 2017.

A path from the marina car parks leads towards and beyond The Pencil and the centre of Largs.
The Pencil was erected in 1912 to celebrate the 1263 defeat of the Vikings in the Battle of Largs, which took place a short distance to the north. See our info panel on the battle.

Public toilets are available at ...
There are many refreshment opportunities, the most famous being Nardini's, but others include The Room and the cafe at Vikingar!

If time allows, take the ferry for a 10-minute Clyde sail to Great Cumbrae (1,200 people) and its town of Millport, where local efforts have renovated the 1870 town hall. Many visitors hire a bike to cycle the 16 m. round the island. In the area around Largs pier are a range of eating places, including the Room and the well-known Nardini's (est. 1935). Vikingar! (see the website), the Viking Heritage Centre, an award winning multi-media presentation of the Vikings in Scotland, is a little further on.
